FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BOOKING THE BAND AND DISCO

A - We always try our best to play for whatever audience is in front of us, we do not work to a set progam. If something is not working then we will try a different approach and of course we are always open to requests. We have added a set list sample to the Set list sample page, we hope this will be of some help for you to get an idea of what we play. Q - We really want a live band, but we are concerned that it will be too loud. Can you play quietly enough so that people can still hear to talk without having to shout? A- Absolutely. We agree that there is nothing worse than the music being to loud at a wedding reception. Also remember never to underestimate the importance of your older guests and their style of music at your wedding reception, these people are usually the most willing to occupy the dance floor early in the night. Q - We need a DJ, can you do both Band and Disco ? A - Yes we can, and we can go from being a live band to being a disco with no time wasted in changing over; everything is set up from the start of the night. Q- Presentation ? A- The overall presentation of the band is a high priority and encompasses such areas as dress, sound, lighting, punctuality and reliability etc. With formal stage wear for formal settings and smart casual attire for more informal, appearance is crucial to the overall performance. Q - How do you get such a big sound from a two-piece group? A - We take full advantage of the technology that is available to us today. This is exactly the same technology that drives performances by many other professional acts on tour today. Together with this we also play live bass guitar, live lead guitar. Q - How long do you play for? A - Usually at a wedding we play for 2 hours and 30 minutes live, and for another two hours with the disco, depending on what time we are allowed to get started. This may vary depending on what way the event is running, and we do work along with the hotel staff and video people etc... (please note that most hotels do have a finishing time for entertainment). We will also provide backround music at the start of the night and during the buffet as we find it helps to build up and keep the atmosphere going! Q - What time do you start? A - Unlike some other bands, we do not hold you to a starting time. If you let us know the time your meal is booked for, we will work with the hotel from there so that we arrive at the hotel before the end of the meal. Q - Can you hold a date open for me? A - The bands' policy for booking is that the first person to pay a deposit gets the date. The balance must be paid on or before the day of the wedding. While we do not put a "hold" on specific dates without a deposit, we will be more than happy to call you and advise if there are any serious inquiries for your date. We don't want to sound like we are pushing you to book, but we do want our prospective clients to know if they have competition for the date in question. If we do not receive confirmation after two weeks after an enquiry then it will be deleted, unless other arragements have been made. Q - Can we have guests up to sing? A - Yes of course you can! During our show, there is no problem with guest singers performing and if needed we will provide backing music, because this is your special day. Singers will only be invited up at the request of the bride and groom, although we do find that too many can spoil the flow of the day. Q - Where can we hear you play? A - We play regularly at public venues and would be happy to e.mail you a list of upcoming gigs. You are very welcome to come along and hear us playing before you decide to book, also check out our bebo band page for up- coming gigs. Q - Do the The Cavanagh Brothers work through an agent? A - No. We are under our own management. You deal directly with us so there are no middle men, and this also means we can keep our prices realistic. Q - Are you really Brothers? A - Yes (well we think so!) Q - How can I book The Cavanagh Brothers Band and Disco? A - It's very easy, just give us a ring or an e.mail to see if we still have your date open, then if we have, all we need are your details. EXAMPLE Bride and Grooms name? Date of the wedding? Name and place of where the reception is being held? Your contact details, numbers and/or e.mail address? If you require a disco?
